KALAYA: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Aurangzeb Khan on Wednesday called for the immediate reopening of the Oblan Road for traffic in Orakzai, urging authorities to address the problems faced by the people of Bizot tribe and ensure swift implementation of decisions taken at the jirga.
Addressing a grand jirga convened to discuss law and order and public issues in the Orakzai tribal district, the lawmaker said the road at Oblan had remained closed for several months and demanded that it must be reopened without delay to ease hardships faced by the residents.
He added that the issue had already been resolved at the jirga level, and now the district administration, commissioner and regional police officer Kohat must take immediate action to enforce the decision.
The MPA emphasised that delays in resolving public issues would not be tolerated. The lawmaker also stated that with consensus among all tribal groups, it was decided to establish the Orakzai headquarters at a central location.
“The representative committees from each tribe would now be formed to finalise key decisions through mutual consultation, ensuring lasting peace,” he added.Rejecting the construction of a police line in Lower Orakzai as a unilateral decision, he stressed that all stakeholders must be taken on board in major development projects, otherwise such decisions would not be acceptable.
The MPA announced that 93 kilometres of roads had been approved for Orakzai in the current
budget, terming it a significant step toward development. He assured that development work would be carried out across all areas without discrimination and that public issues would be addressed on a priority basis.
