PESHAWAR: As many as 52 police officers were conferred gallantry medals by the inspector general of police here on Tuesday.
A ceremony was held at the Auditorium Hall of Central Police Office Peshawar in which Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed distributed cheques among the families of martyrs and Ghazis of officers and personnel who received Quaid-e-Azam Police Medals and Presidential Police Medals.
Additional IGPs, DIGs and officers and youths who received medals and their families attended the ceremony in large numbers.Addressing the ceremony, the IGP praised the officers and jawans who have shown bravery by risking own lives in the performance of their duties.
He said that awards and medals are not compensation for any work but a token to encourage the bravery of the cops for the nation. The IGP said that the provincial government and the Police Department value the sacrifices of their martyrs and ghazis.
At the ceremony, cheques were distributed among 52 police officers and jawans who had displayed bravery on various occasions while performing their duties in the past few years.Among them were the families of 11 martyrs.
