SWABI: Two suspected snatchers were arrested in an injured condition after an encounter in the limits of Chhota Lahor Police Station, said a police official on Tuesday.

A police official said two accomplices of the suspects managed to escape from the scene. He said that four suspects were riding motorcycles in the area with the intention of committing a robbery and snatching mobiles from the people.

The police pursued the suspects, who opened fire on the cops, he added. During the retaliatory firing, two suspects were injured and were arrested on the spot. The arrestees were identified as Abdul Samad and Bahar Ali.

The weapons and motorcycles were recovered from their possession. The accused, the police said, were involved in snatching a mobile phone and a motorcycle from a citizen on February 28. The police launched a search to apprehend the fleeing suspects, besides registering a first information report against the arrested suspects.
