LAHORE:A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique regarding dengue prevention.

In the meeting, it was decided to control dengue fever spread under pre-emptive measures. An integrated system was arranged for household indoor and outdoor surveys and activities.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that due to the pre-dangerous dengue situation, efforts should be made under pre-emptive measures so that dengue fever does not get a chance to spread here this time. The negligence of those violating SOPs poses a danger to everyone; therefore, strict legal action will be taken against those who are negligent in the anti-dengue campaign. It needs practically quality field activities and pay special attention to third-party validation.

The minister directed that special dengue surveillance should be conducted in junkyards and cemeteries within the district limits. The health department is ensuring the availability of required treatment and medicines in hospitals. Meanwhile, another meeting was held in the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education here regarding Children’s Hospital Rawalpindi and Centre of Excellence.

Salman Rafique chaired the meeting through a video link. The meeting reviewed the progress of both health projects, Children’s Hospital and Centre of Excellence in Nursing. It was informed in the meeting that work is under way to establish Centre of Excellence for Nursing in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi with the support of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
