KHAR: The recent reopening of a radio station in Bajaur district, termed at the official level as a successful initiative, has raised questions on the ground.According to sources, this is not a new project but a scheme that has been in existence for years, plagued by alleged administrative negligence, mismanagement, and financial irregularities.

The radio station was originally established to provide information, education, and social awareness in the tribal districts. However, over time, the project became largely inactive.A severe shortage of staff and an uneven distribution of responsibilities exacerbated the situation. The limited team, comprising one producer, one engineer, and a few supporting staff, has reportedly struggled to meet professional requirements.

Moreover, radio presenters working on daily broadcasts have not received salaries since May 2024, creating a critical issue.Non-payment of wages has forced several presenters to resign, leaving the broadcasts almost suspended.

Valuable equipment, including transmitters, microphones, mixers, and other technical assets, has reportedly suffered from poor maintenance and ineffective usage, raising further questions about accountability.
