ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has underscored the critical need for a robust institutional response to digital threats, asserting that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) must adopt a proactive stance in combating the evolving landscape of cybercrime.
Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Saturday visited the newly designated headquarters for NCCIA and ongoing expansion of Parliament Lodges.
The minister directed officials to draft a detailed upgradation plan for the building, which will be outfitted with state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and advanced digital resources. Citing the agency’s expanding operational requirements, he further ordered the construction of an additional floor to ensure the headquarters can accommodate future growth.
Shifting focus to the Parliament Lodges, he inspected both the existing structures and the new residential block currently under construction. Emphasizing timely delivery, Naqvi issued a strict three-month deadline for the completion of new block comprising 104 residential units. The expansion will include a range of modern amenities designed for lawmakers’ comfort, such as a mosque, a gymnasium, a swimming pool and a coffee shop. In addition to the interior work, the minister mandated immediate installation of a comprehensive CCTV surveillance system and construction of a secure boundary wall. He also called for a viable restoration strategy to address maintenance needs of the old block.
