LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday announced a major relief package, abolishing motorbike registration and transfer fees while introducing fuel subsidies for bike owners and financial assistance for farmers across the province.
Under the initiative, every registered motorbike owner will receive a monthly subsidy of Rs2,000, along with a fuel subsidy of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month. The package has been implemented with an immediate effect.
A dedicated mechanism has been introduced to facilitate access to the subsidy. Motorbike owners can apply through helpline 1000, the mobile application “Maryam Ko Batayn,” or via the official web portal.
In a separate announcement, the chief minister unveiled a relief package for farmers, particularly wheat growers, offering financial assistance to those owning up to 25 acres of land. The scheme includes a subsidy of Rs150 per litre on 10 litres of diesel per acre. She said the measures were aimed at reducing the financial burden on citizens amid rising fuel prices driven by global economic challenges. She added that she is personally overseeing the subsidy mechanism to ensure transparency and effective delivery.
