ISLAMABAD: A strong protest from the opposition members against exorbitant increase in prices of diesel and petrol marred proceedings of the National Assembly at Parliament House on Friday.

The opposition members started their protest while raising slogans against the regime at outset of proceedings.

Calling rulers as “dacoits and thieves”, the opposition members gathered in front of Speaker’s dais making it impossible for deputy speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah to continue proceedings and he adjourned proceedings of the House without executing any business till Monday evening.

The PTI-supported MNA, Junaid Akbar said the “imposed” government had dropped the ‘Petrol Bomb’ on people.

Deputy Speaker expressed his displeasure when Junaid Akbar started to criticise an institution, saying that such a criticism could not be allowed on floor of the House.

The protesting members also started token proceedings of the House in front of the Speaker’s dais and demanded debate on increase in prices of petroleum products.

The JUIF member Noor Alam Khan also called for taking the floor to speak on the issue. Earlier, the House offered Fateha for martyrs of suicide attack in Bannu on Friday.
