LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League 2026 continues with its eighth fixture as the Multan Sultans take on the newly-formed Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Wednesday.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides, with Multan entering the contest as clear favourites. With their recent form Multan had cleat edge, reflecting their strong lineup and Hyderabad’s early struggles.

Multan Sultans arrive with massive momentum after a clinical opening-match victory, where all four overseas players contributed. Their batting lineup looks balanced, with Sahibzada Farhan and Steve Smith providing stability at the top, while Ashton Turner, Josh Phillippe, and Shan Masood anchor the middle order. The bowling attack is equally formidable, featuring Mohammad Wasim Jr., Peter Siddle, Shehzad Gul, and spinner Momin Qamar, who impressed with a three-wicket haul in the game.

Hyderabad Kingsmen, by contrast, are still searching for their first win. Their middle order appears fragile, and they have suffered heavy defeats in both matches so far. While Marnus Labuschagne and Kusal Perera bring international pedigree, the lower order lacks consistency, and their bowling attack is inexperienced, relying heavily on Riley Meredith as the lone international seamer.

The Gaddafi Stadium pitch has been heavily used, with seven matches played in five days. Only one match has crossed 200 runs this season, so it’s a batting paradise but also supports the bowlers.

The pitch at Lahore has shown significant wear and tear, favoring bowlers—especially spinners who can exploit grip and turn. Batting first remains the premium strategy, as chasing under lights on a slowing surface is difficult. The average first-innings score has hovered around 175. Weather conditions are expected to be overcast but comfortable at 23°C.

Multan Sultans are strongly backed to win. Their balanced squad, depth in batting, and experienced bowling attack give them a decisive edge. Hyderabad Kingsmen, still finding their footing as a new franchise, appear vulnerable with a fragile middle order and inexperienced seamers. However, Multan Sultans is expected to have a comfortable win.
