LAHORE: The 7th match of the Pakistan Super League 2026 between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore was officially called off due to a damp wicket and soggy outfield following a heavy rainstorm that lashed the city in the evening.
Despite the tireless efforts of the ground staff, who deployed rollers, super soppers, and worked extensively to clear puddles and dry the surface, conditions remained unplayable. The cut-off time for play was set at 9:45 PM local time, with overs beginning to reduce from 8:00 PM. However, repeated inspections by the on-field umpires confirmed that the outfield was unsafe, with water splashing up from the grass during testing. Both the teams get one point each for their washed out game.
Throughout the evening, there was visible activity as covers were removed in stages and the super soppers attempted to clear the pitch area. Players, including Luke Ronchi, were seen in discussions with the umpires and team captains. Ultimately, handshakes between officials and captains confirmed the inevitable decision: the match was abandoned and points were shared between the two sides.
