Junior National Tennis begins

LAHORE: The Servis Tyres Junior National Tennis Championship 2026 officially began at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, with a vibrant opening ceremony attended by players, parents, coaches, and media representatives.

Organised by the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA), the event has drawn a large pool of junior boys and girls from across Pakistan, all eager to compete for national honors. The inauguration was graced by Rashid Malik (SEVP PLTA) as the chief guest, alongside prominent figures in the tennis community including Faheem Siddiqui (Tournament Referee), Mehboob Waheed Jan (Senior Coach, PLTA), and Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari (President, Parents Tennis Lovers Association). In his remarks, Malik encouraged the young athletes to play with zeal and passion, reminding them that their performances could one day make Pakistan proud on the international stage.

The opening rounds produced dominant performances across multiple age categories. In Boys U-18, Abdur Rehman Pirzada, Muhammad Ahmad Afzal, Muhammad Muaz, Aliyan Ali, Zayd Mansoor, Ohad e Mustafa, Rehaan Khan, Muteeb ur Rehman, and Abdur Rehman Rana all advanced with convincing wins. Later in the pre-quarterfinals, Ahtesham Humayun, Muhammad Muaz, Inam Qadir, Aliyan Ali, Ohad e Mustafa, Amir Mazari, and M. Yahya advanced to the next round.

In Boys U-14, Ahmed Fareed Yawar, Wali M. Hassan, Shahzain Faisal, Mahad Rashid, M. Ehsan Bari, Zayd Mansoor, Daniyal Abdullah, and Mustafa Uzair Rana impressed in the first round. The pre-quarters saw victories for M. Muaz, M. Shayan Afridi, Ohad e Mustafa, Muhammad Aayan, M. Faizan, and M. Ibraheem Hussain Gill.

In Boys U-12, M. Faizan, Ashtar Alam Khan, Daniyal Abdullah, M. Daniyal, Mustafa Uzair Rana, M. Ibraheem Gill, and Daniyal Afzal Malik advanced from the first round. Quarterfinal wins went to M. Faizan, Ashtar Alam Khan, Daniyal Abdullah, and Mustafa Uzair Rana.

In Boys/Girls U-10, Hashir Mustafa, Faiz Uzair Rana, and Zahran Zeeshan emerged victorious in their quarterfinal matches.
