Lahore District Men, Women Weightlifting set for April 9-10

LAHORE: The Lahore District Weightlifting Association (LDWA), in collaboration with the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), has announced the holding of Lahore District Men & Women Weightlifting Championship 2026.

According to media coordinator Sohail Javed Butt, the championship will be staged over two days, April 9 and 10 (Thursday and Friday), at the A.R.T. Weightlifting Club, Ali Park, Fort Road, Lahore. The competition will feature top male and female athletes from across the district, competing in a high-intensity environment.

The event is being organized under the expert supervision of Prof. Muhammad Azhar, a renowned international weightlifting coach, who serves as the Organizing Secretary. His involvement ensures that the championship will be conducted with professional standards and technical precision.

The initiative is a joint effort between the L.D.W.A. and the WCLA, with additional support from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). By hosting the championship near iconic landmarks such as the Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort, the organizers aim to blend Lahore’s rich cultural heritage with modern sporting excellence.

“To encourage public participation, the organizers have announced free entry for spectators, athletes, officials, and guests. Fans of strength sports are invited to attend and witness the competitive spirit and skill of Lahore’s finest weightlifters.
