A woman was killed and three others were injured in a violent clash between neighbours in Lyari, police said on Monday.

The incident took place within the limits of the Baghdadi Police Station near Yousufi Masjid on Mir Muhammad Baloch Road, where a dispute reportedly erupted on the fifth floor of a residential apartment over garbage disposal.

During the altercation, suspects resorted to firing, as well as attacking with sharp weapons and sticks, leaving four people injured. They were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where a woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Gul Saba, daughter of Sher Zaman. Among the injured, 48-year-old Syed Zaman, son of Noker Khan, sustained bullet wounds, while 27-year-old Abdul Rehman, son of Saeed Zaman, and another man, Shamsan Zaman, were injured in knife attacks.

Police said five suspects — identified as Hayat, Shah Fahad, Shah Khalid, Shah Faisal and Shah Saud — had been arrested. The police added that Saud allegedly opened fire during the clash. Weapons, including a firearm, knives and sticks, were recovered from the suspects’ possession. The police said the dispute between the neighbours had been ongoing for the past four years. Further investigation was under way.
