A man shot and injured his wife before taking his own life in Garden West, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred within the limits of the Garden police ptation in a house located in Hassan Lashkari locality, where gunfire left a woman injured and the man dead.
Both were taken to a hospital, where the deceased was identified as 35-year-old Suleman, son of Bilal, while the injured woman was identified as Parwa Shah, wife of Suleman. According to the police, the suspect opened fire on his wife during a domestic dispute using a licensed pistol. The bullet struck the woman’s shoulder and grazed her neck.
The police said that when the suspect’s sisters attempted to restrain him, he shot himself and died on the spot. Investigators further revealed that Suleman had contracted a second marriage with the injured woman after divorcing his first wife. The police recovered a 9mm pistol and three spent shells from the scene. The deceased was reportedly involved in a rent-a-car business. The injured woman was currently under treatment at a hospital, the police added.
