LAHORE: JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim and VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu met Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja in Islamabad on Monday.
According to a statement, discussions focused on Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic outlook and the role of digital platforms in expanding financial inclusion.The leadership highlighted over $11 billion invested in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure over three decades, along with contributions exceeding Rs500 billion to the national exchequer in the past 10 years.
The recent acquisition of additional spectrum worth more than $239 million was cited as a key step to strengthen network capacity and enable the rollout of next-generation services, including 5G.
In a separate meeting, the IT minister’s progress on the Digital Pakistan agenda, including IT export growth and the spectrum auction, was acknowledged, with both sides stressing the need for continued public-private collaboration to expand broadband access.
JazzWorld and VEON also outlined plans to invest $1 billion over the next three years to expand connectivity, modernise infrastructure and scale digital platforms.
