GHALLANI: The local authorities and tribal elders carried out a major operation in the Prang Ghari area of Lower Mohmand Subdivision on Friday, destroying around six kanals of opium crops.

The action followed a jirga attended by Assistant Commissioner, Lower Mohmand, Nauman Parvez, other officials and local community leaders. During the jirga, participants unanimously agreed to take strict action against opium cultivation without exception.

The assistant commissioner said that crackdowns against illegal opium cultivation would continue in line with provincial government directives, and no leniency will be shown to violators.

The authorities warned that such operations would continue.
