ISLAMABAD: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) is facing a major challenge in recovering Rs1.13 billion from 18,808 defaulters, with these dues pending for a long time.
These defaulters belong to 26 districts across the country.
In-charge of Vigilance Cell Imran Arif Janjua, in a letter addressed to all administrators and deputy administrators, expressed concern over non-recovery of rent bills and dues. He directed recovery must be ensured, otherwise, disciplinary action will be taken.
He said for March and April 2026, a total of 29,815 bills were issued, but only 11,383 were paid, resulting in a recovery rate of just 38 percent. In addition, there are outstanding old dues of Rs1.13 billion, which continue to increase due to non-payment of new bills. The letter also revealed out of 12,153 commercial properties, rent was collected from only 5,736, raising serious questions about staff performance.
Districts with particularly poor performance include Karachi Rural (5pc), Nankana Sahib (12pc), Karachi Urban (17pc), Sialkot (20pc) and Sahiwal (29pc).
