BARA: A police constable embraced martyrdom in Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal district on Friday when he was targeted by unidentified armed men, official sources said.
It was learnt that a cop identified as Akakhel Shah was on duty when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him in the Kalanga area of Akakhel, killing him on the spot. The attackers escaped after committing the crime.
The body of the martyred cop was shifted to Dogra Hospital for autopsy. His funeral was offered with full official honours at Police Lines Khyber Shakas.
The DPO paid rich tribute to the bravery, dedication, and supreme sacrifice of martyr Akakhel Shah, saying that he laid down his life in the line of duty and brought pride to the police force and the nation.
