A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in North Nazimabad, officials said on Thursday. The suspect was caught by the victim’s father with the help of local residents and handed over to police.
According to police, an FIR has been registered under Section 337-B on the complaint of the girl’s father, Javed Iqbal, at the Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station. The complainant, a resident of Block R, North Nazimabad, and a tailor by profession, told police that on the morning of March 24 at around 10:30am, his five-year-old daughter returned home crying and said that a bearded man in the neighborhood had inappropriately touched her and soiled her clothes.
He said he, along with neighbours, went to the house of the suspect, identified as Salman, son of Zafar Hussain. The girl immediately recognized Salman as the person who assaulted her. The father then called Madadgar 15 and, with police assistance, brought the suspect to the station. Police said legal proceedings have been initiated, and the accused has been handed over to the Special Sexual Offences Investigation Unit for further investigation.
