KARACHI: Chairperson of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Mahmood Langrial visited the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Thursday to address concerns raised by the local business community.

Accompanied by senior FBR officials, including the member for customs operations and chief collector customs appraisement (south), Langrial engaged in discussions on key operational and policy challenges affecting businesses in Karachi.

KCCI representatives provided a detailed overview of ongoing issues, with a focus on delays in tax refunds, difficulties with super tax instalments, and procedural inefficiencies that have been hindering business operations.

In response, Langrial instructed FBR officials to prioritise the resolution of these concerns. He emphasised the need for a more streamlined process for tax refunds, affirming that all legitimate claims would be processed in line with regulatory requirements to improve business liquidity.

The chairperson reiterated FBR’s commitment to facilitating taxpayers while ensuring strict adherence to the law, highlighting the need for transparency in operations. He also warned against any form of corruption within the FBR, stating that officials found guilty of misconduct would face strict disciplinary action. Langrial urged the business community to report instances of corruption, provided they can supply credible evidence.
