KARACHI: Pakistan made a notable presence at the 2026 Alimentaria Expo in Barcelona, a key European food industry event, with the participation of six leading companies showcasing a diverse range of food products, a statement said on Thursday.

The Pakistan Pavilion, organised by the Pakistan Garment Export Corporation Limited (PGECL) in collaboration with the private sector, featured products spanning rice, beverages, salt, biscuits, frozen foods, canned goods and confectionery.

The exhibition, held from March 23 to March 26, was attended by over 4,000 exhibitors from around the world. The event attracted international buyers, distributors and food industry professionals, providing a valuable platform for expanding Pakistan’s presence in the European market.

Among the most notable outcomes, Nisar Rice Mills Limited secured multiple agreements for the export of premium rice to European buyers, underscoring Pakistan’s competitive position in the global rice trade. Meanwhile, Murree Brewery marked its debut in the European market, receiving strong interest in its products and signalling potential growth opportunities across the continent.

Other exhibitors, including Rehman Salt and manufacturers of biscuits and frozen foods, also reported significant business leads and promising future collaborations, reflecting an increasing demand for Pakistani food products in Europe.
