CHARSADDA: Three people, including two brothers, were killed in a firing incident following a dispute over tax collection in the limits of Parang Police Station on Wednesday, police officials said.
The incident took place at the vegetable market located at Sugar Mills Ground on Nowshera Road, where two groups exchanged fire over the collection of qingqi loader tax.According to police details, the dispute arose between Saddam and Aijaz, sons of Irshad and residents of Parang, and the rival party led by Umar Hayat. The argument escalated into an exchange of gunfire.
As a result, Saddam and Aijaz were killed on the spot, while Umar Hayat sustained critical injuries. He was initially shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital and later referred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, where he also succumbed to his injuries.
Police have registered murder cases against members of both groups; however, no arrests have been made so far. Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that one group was allegedly collecting illegal taxes inside the vegetable market, which the other party refused to pay, leading to the deadly clash.
