A 12-year-old boy was killed on Wednesday in a road accident near Filmistan Cinema on the Lyari Expressway within the jurisdiction of the Jamshed Quarters police station.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Mahmood, son of Rizwan. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi. Initial reports suggested that the boy was flying a kite near the expressway when he came in front of a speeding vehicle. He sustained critical injuries after being hit and later died during treatment at the hospital.
The police said no formal report had yet been received from the hospital or the medico-legal officer, and further details were being collected. Rescue officials, however, stated that the boy was crossing the road when he was struck by an unidentified speeding vehicle. The driver reportedly reached the hospital and claimed that the child suddenly came in front of the vehicle. Further investigation into the incident was under way.
