ISLAMABAD: PTI founder Imran Khan was once again denied a meeting with visitors on Tuesday, the fourth day of Eid, despite it being a designated meeting day, according to family members and party representatives.

Two of his sisters, Aleema Khan and Noreen Niazi, arrived along with lawyer Salman Akram Raja. Several members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including national and provincial assembly lawmakers, lawyers and party workers, also headed towards the Adiala jail.

However, authorities did not allow any of them to proceed to the jail, stopping them near Gorakhpur on the Adiala Road. The group later staged a roadside sit-in and chanted slogans.

Speaking to the media, Aleema said even the Eid holidays passed without the family being granted access. She emphasized that Tuesday was the first scheduled meeting day after Eid and insisted they would remain at the site until permission was granted. She described the meeting rights as both constitutional and legal, calling the denial a violation of human rights. She said no negotiation or dialogue are currently taking place, challenging anyone with the authority to directly engage with Imran Khan. She claimed that the PTI founder is “extremely angry” and alleged he is being held in solitary confinement.

She also raised concerns about Imran’s health, alleging a lack of transparency regarding his medical treatment. Referring to reports that he had been taken to a hospital a day earlier, she said the family was not informed and only learned of it through media. She added that one of the doctors they had suggested, Dr Nadeem Qureshi, had not provided any updates on his condition. She alleged that information regarding Imran Khan’s treatment is being deliberately withheld, creating suspicion about his well-being.

Noreen Niazi described Imran Khan as being “unjustly imprisoned” and subjected to injustice. She vowed that the family and party would continue their efforts, adding that those responsible — from jail authorities to government representatives — would be held accountable. Criticising the broader legal environment, she claimed there was no rule of law in the country, while highlighting that PTI supporters had remained peaceful despite repeated obstacles. The authorities have not yet issued an official response on the denial of meeting.
