Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday paid surprise visits to the Sindh Secretariat and the Tughluq House, commonly known as the Old Sindh Secretariat, to inspect various departments, ongoing renovation works and staff attendance.

The CM first reached the New Secretariat, where Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah was present. The CM inspected the under-construction Command & Control Centre on the ground floor, and issued necessary directives to equip the facility with modern systems and technologies.

He then visited the Tughluq House, and reviewed the offices of the school education, home, excise & taxation, mines & minerals and planning & development (P&D) departments, and the CM’s Inspection Team to check the presence of secretaries and other senior officials.

He also inspected the newly constructed committee room of the P&D department. Almost all secretaries were present in their offices. The CM directed the CS to seek an explanation from some secretaries absent from duty.

The CM also reviewed the ongoing renovation works at the Tughluq House, and ordered that the renovation be completed at the earliest. He checked employee attendance across various departments, and instructed that staff attendance be strictly ensured.

He said that all departments must work efficiently to resolve public issues and deliver better services. He stressed that the staff perform their duties diligently, arrive at the office on time and focus on their work.

He noted that although the number of employees in offices has been reduced due to the overall situation in the country, this should not be used as a pretext for absenteeism. “Those employees who are on duty must ensure their presence,” the CM told the CS.
