LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed gratitude and commended her team after a historic achievement in maintaining the lowest-ever prices of fruits, vegetables, and essential commodities across the province.
During Ramazan, facilitation markets witnessed an unprecedented turnout, with millions of citizens purchasing over 36.9 million kilograms of food items at rates up to 40 per cent lower than in the open market. The initiative enabled citizens to save billions of rupees collectively, including significant reductions in flour prices, where consumers benefited from both DC rates and further market comparisons. A total of 80 facilitation markets, including permanent, mobile, and temporary setups, were established under the Punjab Sahulat Bazaars Authority, serving over 40 million visitors. In addition to physical markets, a digital home delivery system processed over 37,000 orders, allowing citizens to save more through free delivery services. For the first time, a direct feedback mechanism was introduced to address public complaints instantly, alongside strict digital monitoring to ensure quality and price control.
The CM appreciated the efforts of the PSBA team, including Chairman Afzal Khokhar, for working tirelessly to provide affordable and quality food items. She emphasized that the government remained committed to ensuring public relief and maintaining price stability, stating that the Ramazan 2026 operation has emerged as a model of effective public service delivery.
Message: Maryam Nawaz, in her message on the Pakistan Day, has aid this day marks a milestone when the path for an independent homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent was paved. She said the Lahore Resolution held a landmark position in the struggle for freedom and the achievement of a separate country. She emphasized that the Pakistan Day represented the unforgettable beginning of the Pakistan Movement, adding that unity, organization, hard work, and integrity were the essential principles for progress. “The sacrifices of our forefathers demand that we continue striving towards the independence.”
Maryam said that to achieve a dignified position in the international community, it was imperative to follow the vision and principles of Mohammad Ali Jinnah. She reaffirmed the commitment to making Pakistan a respected nation in the world and “emphasized that on this day, we must renew our pledge to shape the country in accordance with the ideals of the founding leaders of Pakistan”.
