QUETTA: An FIR has been registered and three police personnel have been arrested after a young man was killed in police firing in Quetta. According to the FIR, the incident occurred on Samungli Road during the night between Monday and Tuesday, when a young man named Safeer Ahmed Bajwa was traveling in a car with his brother.
The FIR states that police officials signaled the vehicle to stop near the university, but when the car did not stop, police chased it and opened fire on Samungli Road. As a result of the firing, Safeer Ahmed Bajwa was hit in the head by a bullet and died on the spot.
A senior government official said that a case has been registered against three police officials, including an ASI, and they have been taken into custody. Meanwhile, the DIG Quetta Police has also formed an investigation committee to probe the incident. According to the official, the committee will work under the supervision of the SSP Serious Crimes Investigation Wing and will review all aspects of the case.
