DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar dies a year after being injured by Mustafa Amir murder suspect

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahsan Zulfiqar, who was critically injured during a raid to recover a kidnapped youth last year, has embraced martyrdom after battling for his life for over a year.

According to police, the officer was wounded on February 8, 2025, during a raid at a bungalow in Khayaban-e-Momin, Defence’s Gizri area, where a team from the Anti-Violent Crime Cell had conducted an operation in order to recover abducted youth Mustafa Amir.

During the raid, the suspect, identified as Armaghan, opened indiscriminate fire on the police party with automatic weapons, leaving DSP Zulfiqar and a police constable injured.

After remaining under treatment for more than 13 months at a private hospital on Stadium Road, the officer succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The funeral prayers for the martyred officer were offered at Rehmania Mosque in PECHS near Tariq Road after the Maghrib prayers, following which he was laid to rest at the Tariq Road graveyard.

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho and senior police officers attended the funeral along with family members and people from different walks of life.

Paying tribute to the martyred officer, the IGP said DSP Zulfiqar was a brave, dedicated and professional officer who had set an example of courage in the line of duty. He added that the sacrifices of martyrs were the foundation of peace in the province and the officer’s services would always be remembered.
