Bid to assault minor; suspect held

LAHORE : Sherakot police arrested a man accused of attempting assault on a nine-yearold boy, following a response to an emergency call made by the victim’s family.

The incident surfaced after the child, identified as ‘W’, went missing from his home in Sherakot for several hours. His family alerted police.

Police said the minor, a resident of Talat Park in Sherakot, had gone to play at the house of a neighbour, identified as Habib. The suspect allegedly took the child into a room and attempted inappropriate acts.

Officials added that the child raised alarmforcing the suspect to flee. He reportedly escaped to his in-laws' house in Bakar Mandi to evade capture. The traumatised child later confided in his father, Akram, who called the emergency 15 number to report the incident. Acting on the complaint filed by Akram, Sherakot police registered an FIR.

Three robbery suspects arrested

Police in Chuhng arrested three suspects allegedly involved in a robbery incident at a petrol pump where staff members were held hostage before the assailants fled the scene. The suspects — identified as Ali Raza, Sajid Ali and Muhammad Tayyab — were traced and arrested with the help of CCTV footage obtained during the investigation. During the operation, police recovered mobile phones, cash, a motorcycle and three pistols from the accused. Separate cases have been registered against the suspects.

26 arrested; alcohol seized

Police arrested 26 suspects during operations against liquor sellers and 317 litres of alcohol were confiscated.

Police registered 29 cases against 35 suspects involved in doing wheelie. In separate actions against aerial firing, 10 individuals were booked in seven cases, and four pistols were recovered.

Crackdown on the public display of weapons led to the registration of 26 cases, with law enforcement officials seizing 22 pistols, two rifles, one shotgun and hundreds of bullets.

Police set up pickets on major roads, impounded 40 motorcycles at various police stations over lack of documentation and other violations.
