SWABI: Local residents and shopkeepers on Wednesday staged a protest against the imposition of tax by the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Razar, on Wednesday.
Held at Parmoli, a union council of Razar tehsil, the protesters chanted slogans against the TMA and blocked the road for all kinds of vehicular traffic.The Islahi Jirga Parmoli president Malik Jehan Akbar while speaking on the occasion said that imposing such a tax on poor residents and small traders was highly unjust and condemnable.
He demanded the immediate withdrawal of the tax, saying that no such tax had been implemented in any other tehsil or TMA in the district, including Topi, Swabi City, and Chota Lahor.Islahi Jirga general secretary Afsar Zeb said that a protest would be held at Shewa Adda after Eid, during which all shopkeepers would observe a shutter-down strike.
