PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) not to harass Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Dr Amjad Ali in connection with an assets case and disposed of his writ petition.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah heard the case.During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel, Bashir Wazir advocate, informed the court that his client, a provincial minister, had already provided records related to his assets to the NAB.

He argued that despite earlier court directions restraining NAB from issuing repeated summons, the bureau had again issued a notice, amounting to harassment. At this point, NAB special prosecutor Arbab Kaleemullah told the court that no call-up notice had been issued to the minister himself. Instead, a female relative and a close associate of the minister had been summoned as witnesses.

He added that certain assets held in their names allegedly belonged to the minister but had not been declared.Justice Syed Arshad Ali observed that NAB should proceed strictly in accordance with the law and must not harass the petitioner. The court further remarked that if the petitioner felt harassed, he may file an appropriate application. After hearing arguments from both sides, the bench disposed of the writ petition with these directions.
