Rawalpindi:Acting on the directives of the DIG Traffic Punjab, Muhammad Waqas Nazir, and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi have launched a pre-Eid awareness and enforcement campaign to curb overcharging, passenger overloading, and reckless driving.

The initiative comes ahead of Eid ul-Fitr, a period when a large number of people travel to their hometowns, often facing inflated fares and unsafe travel conditions. As part of the campaign, the Traffic Education Wing, along with sector in-charges, conducted visits to various bus terminals across the city.

During these visits, officials met with transporters, terminal owners, and drivers, inspected public service vehicles, and emphasized the mandatory display of official fare lists at prominent locations. They also provided guidance on maintaining proper security arrangements.

Authorities issued advance warnings to terminal managers and transport operators, stating that strict legal action would be taken in response to complaints of overcharging or overloading.

Speaking on the occasion, CTO Farhan Aslam noted that transporters often exploit the surge in travel demand during Eid by arbitrarily increasing fares and overcrowding vehicles. To address this, special enforcement squads have been formed and a dedicated helpline has been established to assist passengers.
