Two killed in Mansehra accidents

MANSEHRA: A man was killed and four others sustained critical injuries when a tri-wheeler loader skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine in the Serghaziabad area of Kolai-Palas on Monday.

“The tri-wheeler caught fire after plunging into the ravine. We rescued all five injured before it, but one of them succumbed to injuries on the way to a nearby health facility,” an official of Rescue 1122 told reporters.

The vehicle carrying passengers was on the way to Shakanabad from Serghaziabad when the driver, while negotiating a sharp turn on a mountainous track, lost control of the steering, resulting in it skidding off the road and plunging into a deep ravine.

The rescuers and locals rushed to the spot and retrieved all the injured to a nearby health facility, where doctors pronounced one of them dead.The tri-wheeler caught fire and exploded just after the incident, but all those injured were retrieved before it.

According to rescuers, all those injured and the deceased were members of a family and were moving to the local bazaar for Eid shopping.The police lodged a first information report, started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 divers fished out the body of a young boy who drowned after a car plunged into the Indus River in the Zero Point area of Upper Kohistan.Mohammad Aftab and his friend had gone missing after a vehicle had plunged into the Indus River, and the latter was rescued afterwards, while the body of the former was fished out from the water.The police, after lodging the FIR, started the investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
