Middle East war should end soon, says governor

LAHORE:American Consul General in Lahore, Stetson Sanders called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at the Governor’s House on Monday.

While talking to US Consul General, Punjab Governor said that the Pakistani people are concerned about the ongoing war situation in the region. The global economy has suffered a deep setback due to the current tension. He said that the war in the Middle East should end soon.

Sardar Saleem Haider highlighted Pakistan's desire for stronger cooperation with the US, particularly in education and agriculture, hoping for expanded collaboration in these sectors. "The current war situation is not only affecting the Middle East but the entire global economy," he said.

The governor said that the decades-old relations between Pakistan and the United States are based on strong foundations. He said that there is a need to increase people-to-people contacts and exchanges of educational delegations between the two countries. He said that the United States is Pakistan’s largest trading partner.

Punjab governor said that promoting Pak-US trade relations in the fields of agriculture and Information Technology will give a new dimension to bilateral relations. He further said that he would welcome American cooperation in developing the agricultural sector in Punjab on modern lines.

During the meeting, the US Consul General, on behalf of the US government, thanked the Punjab governor and the provincial government for their constant support and efforts to protect the US Consulate and its staff.
