LAHORE: Pakistan cricket received a major boost as Sahibzada Farhan and women’s captain Fatima Sana were both nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2026, following their standout performances in international cricket.
In the men’s category, Farhan’s explosive batting at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup set new records. He amassed 383 runs at an average of 76.60 and a strike-rate of 160.25 in seven matches, breaking Virat Kohli’s record for most runs in a single edition. Farhan also became the first player to score two centuries in one T20 World Cup, with memorable knocks against Namibia and Sri Lanka. His performances earned him a place in the ICC Team of the Tournament. He is nominated alongside England’s Will Jacks and USA’s Shadley van Schalkwyk.
On the women’s side, Fatima Sana impressed with both bat and ball against South Africa. She scored 57 runs in two ODIs at a strike-rate of 126.66, while also taking two wickets. In the T20Is, she was Pakistan’s leading scorer, striking 90 in the first match and an unbeaten 47 in the third, along with two wickets. Her all-round contributions have placed her in the shortlist alongside India’s Arundhati Reddy and Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama.
These nominations highlight Pakistan’s growing presence in both men’s and women’s cricket, with Farhan and Fatima emerging as key figures on the international stage. Their recognition by the ICC underscores the impact of their performances and the promise they hold for Pakistan’s future campaigns.
