Two people were killed in a traffic accident in the Manghopir area of Karachi after an oil tanker reportedly lost control due to brake failure. The incident occurred near the F-11 bus stop close to Kunwari Colony in Mianwali Colony, where an oil tanker ran two individuals over. Upon receiving the information, rescuers reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The deceased men were identified as 70-year-old Lal Man Shah, son of Zairuddin, and 25-year-old Asadullah, son of Bismillah Khan. Police said initial investigations suggested that the accident occurred when an oil tanker suffered brake failure.
A tanker was already parked on the roadside in a faulty condition when another tanker coming from behind rammed into it. As a result of the collision, the tanker went out of control and also hit a dumper truck, during which the two individuals came under the tanker and died on the spot.
Police said both oil tankers were loaded with diesel. After the accident, the drivers of both vehicles fled the scene and search was under way to arrest them. The authorities cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure and kept people away from the accident site. Police officials said inquiries were being conducted regarding the deceased. It has not yet been confirmed whether the victims were riding a motorcycle.
