Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Sunday issued directives to the police to formulate a comprehensive Eidul Fitr security plan at police range level after taking into account the prevailing law and order situation as well as the overall security strategy.
Lanjar emphasised that the implementation of the plan must be strong, coordinated and effective in all aspects. He said that in coordination with other law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies, all central mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs and other open venues where Eid prayers would take place must be provided foolproof security.
He ordered that extraordinary security measures also be ensured at all public places, including shopping centres, Eid bachat bazaars, railway stations, bus terminals and other crowded locations.
He said that all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs should ensure mobile and motorbike patrols. They will also ensure that Eid prayer congregations, mosques and Imambargahs are effectively covered within the designated patrolling routes, he added.
He ordered that surveillance teams be formed and deployed at shopping centres, crowded public places, parking areas, and within and around open Eid prayer venues. Lanjar said that all district SSPs, in collaboration with local elders, and prominent political and religious personalities, should prevent objectionable or offensive wall chalking, posters, pamphlets and literature. Strict legal action should be taken against those involved in such activities, he added.
He said that to effectively monitor peace and security measures across the province, central control rooms should be established, remaining in constant contact with other police wireless control rooms, and maintaining a record of the overall security situation during the Eid holidays, issuing the instructions necessary for strengthening security.
