LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has taken a progressive step by allowing national team players to participate in overseas hockey leagues.

According to sources, several members of the national squad have already secured contracts abroad. Team captain Imad Butt, along with Moeen Shakeel and Ghazanfar, has arrived in Hong Kong to feature in a league tournament. Meanwhile, Sufyan Khan and Ahmed Nadeem are set to play in France, while Rana Waheed has signed with a club in Germany to compete in the German league.

Discussions are also underway for two to three additional Pakistani players to join a league competition in Australia. The PHF has clarified that all players currently involved in overseas leagues will return to Pakistan before the start of the national team’s Pro League training camp, scheduled ahead of matches in Europe and England this June.
