PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday suspended an order issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to freeze the house of an accused arrested in the Kohistan financial scandal and sought a response from the bureau.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Salahuddin heard the writ petition filed against the freezing of the property.During the hearing, petitioner’s counsel Hamid Ali advocate informed the court that his client, Tahir Tanveer, was serving as a manager at a private bank’s Dasu branch and was currently under arrest in connection with the Kohistan financial scandal.
He said that the NAB had issued an order to freeze his client’s residential property located in Kaghan Colony, Abbottabad, and had served a notice on January 18, 2026, directing the family to vacate the house.
The counsel argued that the notice was received late and added that the accused’s wife and four children were residing in the house, questioning where the family would go if the property was frozen.
After the arguments, the bench suspended NAB’s order to freeze the house and issued notices to NAB officials, directing them to submit their response at the next hearing. The court then adjourned the proceedings.
