PESHAWAR: Leading Shia religious scholars on Thursday linked the attacks on Iran to the Epstein scandal and alleged that US and Israeli leaders acted to divert global attention.
Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Imamia Ulema Council General Secretary Muhammad Taqi Zaidi said that American and Israeli leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, attacked Iran to protect themselves from the scandal, putting the entire Muslim Ummah to the test.
He expressed condolences over the loss of lives of Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Palestinian people, Iranian citizens, and all oppressed nations worldwide.The clerics emphasised the unity of Muslims in opposing forces hostile to Iran, noting that in Pakistan, people from all schools of thought had demonstrated solidarity against the attacks.
Muhammad Taqi Zaidi welcomed the appointment of Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of Iran. He pledged that Muslims worldwide would stand with the Iranian nation in defending human dignity and sovereignty.
Addressing the press, Allama Abid Hussain Shakri highlighted the bravery of the Iranian people in resisting two major global powers and condemned the bombing of schools in Iran, which claimed the lives of 186 students, calling it a “new chapter of injustice”.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of all martyrs and praised Iran for exposing the wrongdoing of global powers.The clerics called on the Pakistani government to ensure justice by arresting those who fired at protesters demonstrating against the US and Israeli actions. They also demanded the release of peaceful demonstrators detained during these protests.
In observance of Al Quds Day on Friday, the Imamia Ulema Council, along with other religious communities, announced city-wide rallies in Peshawar after Friday prayers.Clerics urged all Muslims to participate actively in these demonstrations to counter what they described as the schemes of global imperialist forces.
Those present at the press conference included Allama Jameel Azhar, Maulana Nazir Hussain Motahari, Maulana Zaki Hussain Hussaini, and Muzaffar Ali Akhunzada of the Imamia Jirga.
