Islamabad:A prominent Islamabad socialite, Hassan Nawaz Khokhar, has condemned the mistreatment of his security guards by police at a Faisal Mosque checkpoint, sparking concerns over the treatment of citizens by authorities, says a press release.

He told the media that between the Saturday and Sunday night, he was heading home with his family when this incident occurred.Mr. Khokhar alleged that his guards were detained and a case registered against them due to alleged incomplete documentation, despite presenting requisite papers. He alleged the police officer demanded a bribe, and the incident left him without security for a considerable period, endangering his life.

“This is not an isolated incident,” Mr. Khokhar stated, urging authorities to address complaints of harassment and intimidation of businessmen and traders at checkpoints. He called for the Islamabad IG to take immediate action against responsible officials, emphasizing that the business community is the backbone of the national economy and deserves respect.

The incident has raised questions about the efficacy of security protocols and the treatment of citizens by law enforcement agencies. The authorities must investigate and take stringent action to prevent such incidents in the future.
