Possible transfer of DPO opposed

TIMERGARA: Representatives of various political, social and traders’ organisations in Lower Dir on Tuesday opposed the possible transfer of District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Dir Taimur Khan.

The meeting was organized by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUIF). Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, the leaders of various parties expressed strong opposition to the reported move.

Those spoke to the media include JUI-F district head Maulana Sirajuddin, Awami National Party (ANP) Lower Dir president Haji Bahadar Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) district head Maulana Asadullah, Pakistan People’s Party Lower Dir president Nawabzada Ahmad Zeb Khan, PPP secretary Information Nawabzada Irfan, president Timergara Chambers of Commerce Noor Alam Khan, president Dir Qami Jirga Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, former MPA Haji Saeed Gul, president Dir Qami Pasoon Malik Shah Nasim and others.

They said that DPO Taimur Khan had played a key role in ensuring the rule of law across the district. They credited him with launching effective crackdowns against drug trafficking, usury and other illegal practices, taking action against land grabbers, improving the overall law and order situation, and introducing significant reforms within the police department.

They described Taimur Khan’s performance as exemplary, stating that he had won the trust and confidence of the public through professional conduct and decisive action.They alleged that the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was trying to influence the transfer of the DPO for political reasons.

They strongly condemned what they termed as political interference in administrative matters.The opposition leaders warned that if the transfer was carried out, all political parties and allied organizations in the district would jointly stage protests and take to the streets in resistance.
