LAHORE:Several incidents of theft and robbery were reported in different areas of the city, during which citizens were deprived of cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, motorcycles and vehicles.
In Defence, robbers took Rs400,000 and a mobile phone from a citizen identified as Nasir. In Kot Lakhpat, armed men snatched Rs200,000 and a mobile phone from Amjad. In Qila Gujjar Singh, Abdullah was deprived of Rs365,000 and a mobile phone.
In Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate, Arif lost Rs300,000 and a mobile phone, while in Satukatla, robbers took Rs280,000 and a mobile phone from Jamshed. In Shalimar, Umar was deprived of Rs200,000, a mobile phone and other valuables.
Meanwhile, cars were stolen from Nawab Town and Lower Mall, while motorcycles were reportedly stolen from Iqbal Town, Kot Lakhpat and Islampura.Meanwhile, Bypass Chowki Raiwind police arrested two members of a robbers’ gang. According to the spokesperson, suspects M Waqar and Tariq, both having previous records, were arrested during a crackdown. Police recovered a snatched motorcycle, two pistols, bullets and two mobile phones from their possession and registered cases.
Meanwhile, Wagah Chowki police arrested two drug dealers during checking on a tip-off. The suspects, identified as Mansha and Qadeer, were allegedly supplying drugs when arrested. Police recovered 2kg ice from their possession and registered a case. During investigation, the suspects confessed to doing online trade of drugs.
Rape suspect arrested
Factory Area police arrested a suspect accused of raping a 30-year old woman.According to the spokesperson, the suspect allegedly entered the woman’s house and assaulted her. Police responded to a call on helpline 15 and arrested the suspect.
Meanwhile, an accused of harassing a college student was arrested from the Sundar area following prompt action by the Virtual Women Police Station.According to the spokesperson, the suspect allegedly attempted to harass the student and fled when locals gathered after she raised an alarm. Police were informed through the emergency helpline 15. The Virtual Women Police Station immediately dispatched a team, while a Safe City female officer contacted the complainant and assured her of protection and legal action. A case was registered.
12 gamblers arrested
Liaquatabad police conducted a raid on a tip-off and arrested 12 individuals allegedly involved in gambling.Police recovered Rs27,000 stake money from their possession and registered a case.
