Islamabad:The federal government has commenced the distribution of Rs200 million relief package for the victims of the Tarlai Kalan tragedy, following the special directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Under the supervision of the Islamabad district administration, compensation cheques amounting to Rs5 million each have been issued to the families of 40 martyrs to support their rehabilitation and provide immediate financial security.
The implementation process has been fast-tracked through close coordination between the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme focal person, Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi, and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon.
While the majority of the heirs have received their payments, officials noted that three families are currently outside of the capital and will receive their compensation upon their return. In addition to the support for the deceased, the administration has finalised relief payments for the 168 individuals injured in the incident.
Critically injured victims are entitled to Rs3 million each, while those with minor injuries will receive Rs1 million. While cheques for those with complete documentation are ready for immediate disbursement, Deputy Commissioner Memon has issued strict instructions to finalize the records of any remaining victims to prevent further delays.
Efforts to assist the affected families extended to logistical support, including the transportation of the body of victim Sajid Hussain to Skardu.
Through the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, arrangements were made for the deceased and 10 family members to travel via Pakistan International Airlines. The affected families have publically acknowledged the swift response of the government, expressing their gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and the local administration for the timely execution of the relief measures. The Islamabad district administration continues to prioritize the completion of all pending documentation to ensure every entitled individual receives their designated share of the package.
