Dispute claims 4 lives in Shabqadar village

CHARSADDA: At least four people were killed and two others sustained injuries as rival groups traded fire over a dispute involving women in Battagram village in Shabqadar tehsil of the Charsadda district, police said on Sunday.

According to SHO of Battagram Police Station, Imtiaz Khan, the dispute between the two groups had been ongoing for the past 30 years over issues related to women. The incident occurred when members of both sides came face to face during Taraweeh prayers at a local mosque, where an exchange of harsh words escalated into armed firing.

As a result of the firing, four persons including Parvez, son of Mehr Dil, Inayat, son of Jan Muhammad, Ayaz, son of Toor Sam, and Zakir, son of Ayaz, all residents of Battagram were killed on the spot.

Two people were injured in the firing and were rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Shabqadar for medical treatment. One of the injured was later referred to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar in critical condition.
