ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Saturday disposed of two pre-arrest bail applications filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Shandana Gulzar in cases registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca), after her counsel withdrew the pleas following relief granted by the Islamabad High Court.

The hearing was held by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka relating to two cases registered against Shandana Gulzar under the Peca law.

During the proceedings, the defence counsel informed the court that petitions had already been filed before the Islamabad High Court seeking dismissal of both cases.

The lawyer further stated that the high court had restrained authorities from arresting the accused in connection with the two cases.

In view of the relief granted by the high court, the defence said the pre-arrest bail applications were no longer required and were therefore being withdrawn.

Following this request, the court formally disposed of both bail pleas as withdrawn.

According to case records, the two cases against Shandana Gulzar were registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. The charges were filed under provisions of the Peca Act.
