KOHAT: A constable sustained minor injuries when a police armoured personnel carrier (APC) was targeted with an improvised explosive device(IED) in the Ghaznikhel area of Lakki Marwat district on Friday, police officials said.
Officials said a Ghaznikhel police team was on routine patrol when the IED, planted on a motorcycle near Ghazni Khel Adda, went off.
Following the explosion, the law-enforcement personnel swiftly reached the site and cordoned off the area. Evidence was collected from the scene while a large-scale search and combing operation was launched.
District Police Officer, Lakki Marwat, Nazir Khan directed immediate deployment of additional police contingents to the area. He said the attackers belonged to militant elements referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij” and were attempting to spread fear through such cowardly attacks after facing setbacks in their agenda.
He added that Lakki Marwat Police would not be intimidated by such incidents and remained committed to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens. Security operations against the perpetrators, he said, would continue with greater intensity.
