SUKKUR: A most notorious Katcha area dacoit carrying Rs10 million head money, Sanaullah alias Sano Shar, surrendered to the Ghotki police, brining to an end a long chapter of criminal activities, including the murder of 17 policemen.
Sano Shar was a symbol of terror and had become the chief of the Ravaanti Katcha area. He had been wanted for the killing of 17 policemen, besides numerous other crimes.
Larkana/Sukkur DIG Nasir Aftab Pathan and the Ghotki SSP said that Operation Nijat-e- Mehran would be continued until the zero crime rate in the region was achieved.
Separately, talking to The News, Khairpur SSP Dr Samiullah Soomro said that nine notorious dacoits had surrendered before the police as part of the Nijat-e- Mehran Operation in a short period of seven days. The dacoits included one carrying Rs2 million head money and wanted in over 50 cases.
The SSP said the dacoits include Rab Rakhio Narejo, son of Nazar Muhammad alias Nazaro Narejo, who was wanted in several cases and carried head money of Rs1 million.
Notorious criminal Mircho Narejo wanted in over 30 serious cases with a Rs1 million bounty also laid down arms and surrendered to the Khairpur police. Dacoit Sikandar Ali Narajo was involved in multiple serious crimes, and dacoits Abdul Jabar, Abdul Ghaffar, Atta Muhammad and Abdul Samad were alleged to be involved in kidnappings, extortion, murders, and police encounters.
SSP Soomro stated that dacoit Sikandar Ali had urged his accomplices to surrender and abandon their criminal activities. He said the police operation aimed to eradicate dacoits and restore peace in the katcha area. He stated that the police were committed to protecting citizens, eliminating crime, and restoring peace in the area.
In another major development in the ongoing Nijat-e- Mehran operation against dacoits in the Ghotki district, a kidnapped person was rescued on Friday. The police with the help of Sindh Rangers and federal civil intelligence agencies rescued the abducted citizen, Sadaqat, son of Muhammad Amin Arain. He is a resident of Shahkot Tehsil, Nankana Sahib District, Punjab.
During the operation, the police gained access to the hideouts of the kidnappers/dacoits and set them on fire.
