KOHAT: Participants of a grand jirga on Saturday agreed on coordinated and effective measures to ensure the protection of lives and property of people in Orakzai district.
Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah has chaired the jirga, which was attended by tribal elders from Orakzai district at the Commissioner House here.
The jirga focused on regional security, ongoing development projects and the construction of a district complex.
The meeting was attended by the Member of the Provincial Assembly and Chairman DDAC Orakzai Aurangzeb Khan, Deputy Inspector General Police, Kohat, Irfan Tariq, Deputy Commissioner, Orakzai, Muhammad Irfan Uddin, Deputy Commissioner, Kohat, Muhammad Nawaz Wazir and other officials.
The tribal elders reaffirmed their commitment to support the Pakistan Army, police and civil administration in maintaining lasting peace and stability, while keeping a close watch on hostile elements.
Officials also briefed the Jirga on ongoing development initiatives in Orakzai, particularly in the health, education and communications sectors. Elders expressed satisfaction with government efforts and termed them vital for public welfare.
The jirga reiterated its resolve to support peace, national security and development at all costs and stressed the need to expedite completion of the district complex so that public services can be provided under one roof.
