LAHORE:A professional dress code has been made mandatory for teachers in all government schools across the province, which will be implemented from February 23, 2026.Under the new rules, all male and female teachers will be required to wear black gowns during duty, so that a professional, uniform and dignified environment can be promoted in educational institutions.The directive states that without a black gown, a teacher will neither be able to take classes nor perform duties.
The School Education Department has issued instructions to all district Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and school heads to ensure implementation of the dress code on a daily basis. The decision has been taken with the aim of establishing discipline, authentic professional identity and a uniform identity in government schools.
